    1. Everybody knows that the dice are loadedEverybody rolls with their fingers crossedEverybody knows the war is overEverybody knows the good guys lostEverybody knows the fight was fixedThe poor stay poor, the rich get richThat's how it goesEverybody knowsEverybody knows that the boat is leakingEverybody knows that the captain liedEverybody got this broken feelingLike their father or their dog just died He could have written it yesterday. Goodbye, Mr. Cohen. Thank you for everything.

    2. Leonard Cohen was an amazing talent! His poetry and prose dive headfirst into the deepest darkest depths of the human psyche, and bring those animalistic urges to the forefront. He taps into our human condition with just a handful of words. His words are so true and inspirational and on target, that his audience has no choice but to agree with him and his message. Leonard Cohen was a genius, with bohemian traits, and a rawness that gets to the heart of matters, especially sexy ones.

    3. Give me crack and anal sex Take the only tree that's left and stuff it up the hole in your culture Give me back the Berlin wall give me Stalin and St Paul I've seen the future, brother: it is murder— LC, The FutureProbably best to enjoy these little ditties with musical accompaniment as intended, but this beats looking up some deaf idiot's transcription of the lyrics online.

    4. There's not much to say here, a near complete anthology of Cohen's lyrics is as good as it gets. Accompanied by extremely useful blurbs by Graham Vickers, every song is presented clearly and explained with great detail (albeit I will say some songs could have been further expanded upon). I chose to read this while listening to each song (which took a while) and recommend anyone interested in getting the full Cohen experience do the same. There is something immortal about Cohen's lyrics and writi [...]

    6. I had hoped for more but what did I really expect, this is a great book to dip into for reference but lyrics with out a tune just is so wrong. Did discover a few good lyrics that made me revisit the CD's but not that many. Give me the Dylan or Paul Simon lyrics anyday.

    7. Before being beautiful songs, Cohen's works are fantastic poems full of moving images. I've really loved reading them.
